: עַל שְׁלשָׁה דְבָרִים הָעוֹלָם עוֹמֵד, עַל הַתּוֹרָה וְעַל הָעֲבוֹדָה וְעַל גְּמִילוּת חֲסָדִים
The world rests on three things - on Torah, on service, and on acts of kindness. (Pirke Avot 1:2)
MDSC members are more than enthusiastic about reaching out to perform acts of loving kindness.
We have many volunteer opportunities both inside and outside the synagogue. Outreach at the Montgomery County Food Bank, coordinated by Debbie Shemony, is a rewarding task for whole families, aiding the hungry and at the same time teaching our youngest members the principles of tsedaka.
We actively care for one another in our own community, and our members regularly reach out to aid local service organizations.
A broad base of volunteer opportunities exist in the greater Washington DC area. The Jewish Federation website is a good starting place to look for ways to participate in the joy of helping others.
