The 2013-14 Ruach Program begins on Tuesday, October 22
Children who attend this program will learn the following:
1) Foundations - The fundamental beliefs and practices of Judaism as illustrated through inspiring stories and discussions
2) Heritage - An overview of the history, culture and variety of Sephardic Judaism
3) Tefillah - The children will also become familiar and comfortable with various parts of the regular Shabbat service so that they are empowered to participate more actively in the prayers at Magen David.
The curriculum this year will focus on Shabbat in the home. We will learn Sephardic melodies for Shalom Alekhem, Eshet Hayil, Azamer Bishvahin, Kiddush, Shabbat Songs, Birkat Hamazon and Havdala.
Class is held on Tuesday nights, the format will be as follows:
5:30-6:30 - Hebrew Reading (for those who need it)
Advanced Study and Taamim (for those who don't need Hebrew reading support) - children in this group will develop mastery in chanting Torah, Haftara, Shir Hashirim and Tehillim in Yerushalmi/Moroccan melodies
6:30-7:00 - Pizza break and Birkat Hamazon
Pick up is at 7:00 pm
Tuition is $225 per family for members and $325 per family for non members
Pizza is $5 per child per week
